What Firefox Extensions Do I Use?

Good question, now I will answer.

Because I'm a user of Google's services I use:
Better GMail 2, and Better GReader

Open IT Online so I can open files from my computer in Google Docs (Doesn't work well right now, but I'm hopeful).
I also use the URL shortener Goo.gl Lite from Google.

To manage my tabs I use:
Tab Mix Plus to manage how my tabs behave.
FaviconizeTab to shorten tabs I always have open to just an favicon.
PermaTabs Mod to make sure that my Google Applications are always open.

I'm currently using Scribefire to compose this blog post and like to use Fire.fm to listen to music.

I also like minimalist views so have Tiny Menu to hide any menus I don't use and have Omnibar installed so I can only have one text box to work with.

Along with a few miscellaneous extensions that I find helps me in my own browsing habits:
DownloadHelper so I can download videos that I want to keep.
MinimizeToTray Plus to keep my task bar neat.
Speed Dial to have a home page that opens with all my most used sites ready to be opened.

As of right now those are the only extensions that I use on a regular basis in Firefox and have another list that I use in Google Chrome (but that's for another post).

The Individual Mandate

Congress starts to show some fiscal responsibility by passing a bill that pays for itself but no one wants the parts that will provided the revenue for the bill. Yet again people want something for nothing, it amazes me that Americans have this mentality.

Mubarak to Step Down

President Hosni Mubarak will meet the demands of protesters, military and ruling party officials

We need this type of revolution in America, maybe one day the people will wake up and realize that the system as it is doesn't work.

Rand Paul Breaks with his Party

I followed the Kentucky race last year that featured Rand Paul and after listening to him speak I often wondered just how crazy he has to be to let some of those things leave his mind and be spoken aloud. However, I can finally say that I have found something that I can agree with him on. I was against the Patriot Act when it was first introduced and will be against it until it is no longer the law of our country. It is my belief that each of the congress persons who voted yes for this blatant violation of our Constitution should have been impeached the day after it passed. I too took an oath to support and defend our Constitution against all threats, both foreign and domestic and I believe that this law is a threat to our Constitution.

Ignorance can be fixed with a quick Google Search

Scientific research has taken many hits over the years but can Bill'O the clown really not understand how the moon formed. Some of the claims that these science deniers make seem even a little too far fetched even for them to believe in my opinion. A quick search of Google returned over 9 million results with the top result being from the Planetary Science Institute website. Another search on how the moon affects the tides returns over 200,000 results. I know that Mr. O'Reilly has plenty of people who work for him that can search the Internet for factual information on any topic, but because the facts don't fit in with his beliefs they are to be ignored as if they don't exist. This seems to be how people like him attempt to win the argument, if a person denies the facts enough then they will go away.

State of Breakdown: Guns on campus divisive

Now I have no problem with gun ownership, or concealed carry but I think that the state government of Arizona has taken it a little too far.

State of Breakdown: Guns on campus divisive

I personally don't own a gun and don't want to own a gun, however I will fight to my death for any responsible adult to have the right to own or carry a weapon. However, to allow someone to carry a weapon onto a college campus is inviting trouble. I wouldn't want to be on a campus with a stressed out college student carrying a loaded weapon.

"Radical Islam" Fearmongering

According to this article Rep King (R-NY) believes that the radicalization threat is coming from the U.S. Muslim community. What the Representative doesn't seem to understand is that all religious groups have their share of a radical faction. One just needs to look at the likes of Fred Phelps to see that Christianity has it's fair share of radical practitioners.

Strapped States Look to Vices to Increase Revenue

"Across the country, more elected officials are targeting so-called vices, such as cigarettes, for tax hikes as a politically safer alternative to raising property and income taxes."

Guess our elected officials are going to play this game until they finally realize that the only way to get out of the mess that they have put us in is to simultaneously cut spending and raise the tax rates. Until this happens our country will continue on the path to bankruptcy.

Good News for Science Education

A creationist publisher has decided not to submit any materials for consideration to the Texas Education Agency. In a signed letter, The Foundation for Thought and Ethics reiterated its withdrawal of supplemental biology materials for consideration. (Link)

This is a win for Science Education and our children in the United States.
